I have the aft cabin top pieces cut, sanded and ready to glue. Actually, all of the framing is cut, but not all perfectly shaped and sanded. I ran across this article on how to make handrails in the June 2011 issue of
WoodenBoat magazine.
I want a small handrail on either side of the opening at the aft cabin top. My first attempt at drilling the 1 1/4 inch holes, splintered the wood real bad. And my jigsaw is on it's last leg, so I will take these to my work and use our nice DeWalt jigsaw.
I will also put handrails on either side of the cabin top. As clumsy as I am, I need something to hang on to while getting to the bow. And you can never have too many places to tie stuff to.
Okay, this is what happens when you don't go back and check to see if the pieces you are gluing have slipped out of place. See the line, the brace is suppose to be even with that line. It is glued really good, and I'm not going to ruin both pieces trying to rip it off. SO, I will get creative in order to make it right.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. For a while, I was bogged down and just couldn't get motivated to work in the garage. We've had some warm days, and I've been dreaming of sun, wind, sand and sailing! I want to be ready!
