Throwing away mood....

For those of you who have not heard, I will be moving onto a boat in October. When I tell people this, they ask me, "what are you going to do with your stuff?" My response, "sell it all." In order to do that, I have to go through everything. Throw away the junk, list the better stuff on Craigslist, and the rest will go in an estate sale. Today, I started the "going through stuff".

I have two filing cabinets... full of stuff I haven't used or looked at in years. Today was the day to tackle that.

It was a trip down memory lane. My best, and most exciting find, was finding the Quickbooks disk I have been looking for... for a few years now!

How many of you remember these? And, don't forget the floppy disk. Yes, they all went in the trash.

I found a lot of items like this. Not sure why they weren't trashed a long time ago.

This process is a little harder than I thought it would be. It's like letting go of the old, and starting a new life. A friend told me that at her last move, she had an open door sale, and that it was very freeing. I'm thinking that it will be the same for me. I have the memories, don't have to hang onto the tangible items that go along with them. It's unfortunate my memory is so bad!

  1. Been following along for a while now and much enjoy your posts of your life and thoughts very much. Still arguing with myself about building the Paradox (I have most of the marine grade wood on hand awaiting more than fond petting, sensual raw wood sniffing and feverish dream gazing with the plans and web of words (which is no small task at gathering on the Tall Grass Prairies of S.E. Kansas), but a snazzy cat called Eco6; http://www.ikarus342000.com/ECO6page.htm twinkles in my mind's eye and I waver still. Being 59ish and realistically thinking about my ability to scrunch for long hours and the absolute dependence on comfort plumbing near and private and handy is a reality check I have to face before long. It's beginning to look like I'm collecting wood and stuck in the limbo of the dreaded procrastination zone before ever epoxying my fingers together the first time.

Anyway, I want to congratulate you on lovely lovely and deliciously crafted Tardis and your compliment and thank you for the delightful repartee and stream of consciousness logs regarding your life and paths and the pleasure of messing about with boats.

You'll likely love your move to the little ship and will appreciate the grand things about living in harbor (Proudly stating your introductory token in life as a special spirit by introducing yourself with your proud name and then thusly and with a gleaming lovestruck gaze "And I'm a liveaboard..." There are few things in life as golden and delighting as living amongst the sticks and dining on the slaps of halliards on masts and the chuckle of water at her lines. You will always remember the bouyant delight in disoveries and your Autumn evenings sitting in the cockpit just watching the sky, hearing the birds; your caucusing neighbors, the sway of masts and the sounds of the waterworld night awakening... Ah, yes, congratulations and joy in your new house. Yeah, you're going to love it. And we, your readers, will chuckle and swoon with your revelations about boatlife. Enjoy and blessings on your house this new golden chapter of life.
